Once cured and tensioned, the temporary support under this post-tensioned reinforced concrete slab will be removed, leaving behind the first of a series of dramatic cantilevers hovering over 4 levels - with the most exquisite views of the Mother City. A new project nestled in the vineyards of Stellenb

A new project nestled in the vineyards of Stellenbosch’s Golden Triangle. The design is a reinterpretation of Cape Vernacular - with an appropriate contextual response which allows for a modern method of space-making. The site has panoramic views in all directions (up and down in places) which is guided and climatically moderated by the roof structures #jacobothaarchitect #modernarchitecture #farmbuildings #winefarms

Very excited to go to site with this new project. The building sits on the edge of a cliff which allows for spectacular views to the south. The diagram is expressed through intersecting masses which has been carved away to create meaningful positive and negative spaces, while moderating views, privacy and sunlight. A splayed timber soffit will cover the beam projections and define the large aperture along the facade.
